For over a year a group of Our Duty parents have been working with Julie Bindel and her producer Sam to get their stories out. The result is very professional podcast series: Julie Bindel’s Substack which can also be found on YouTube: Julie in Genderland on YouTube

EPISODE 1: WE KNOW HOW YOU THINK

Across the UK, loving parents have been threatened, shunned and sometimes driven to considering suicide by the authorities they once trusted.

In this series, Julie meets families whose lives have been thrown into turmoil by the failure of pretty much every institution to stand up to the cult of trans ideology.

They’ve been bullied into allowing their once-healthy children to take powerful drugs, sometimes undergo life-altering surgery, and be repeatedly brainwashed by the fad of gender.

Julie speaks to parents living under threat of sanction as a result of the social worker and counselling professions abandoning sense and safeguarding.

Includes contributions from James Esses and Maggie Mellon.

Then one day, a chance encounter with a curious doctor led to a change of mind.

In this episode, Julie Bindel talks to the couple along with other parents fed the “trans child” lie by professionals they thought they could trust. The episode discusses detransition and includes an Our Duty success story.

EPISODE 4: SOMETHING DID GO VERY WRONG

In 2018, journalist Hannah Barnes stumbled on a curious story involving apparent turmoil at an NHS clinic which was being overwhelmed by children described as experiencing “gender distress”.

Consultant psychiatrist David Bell was a governor at the NHS Trust which ran the clinic. He was trying to blow the whistle on serious failings in the care of these children.

In this episode, David, now retired, and Hannah who is associate editor at the New Statesman, describe what followed.

And how between them, they helped exposed one of the biggest safeguarding and medical scandals in NHS history.

Frequently overlooked is the role of parents in getting the governors at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust to reconsider the practice at its Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS). That story is told here.

Growing up in remote North Wales was a formative experience for consultant psychiatrist Dr Az Hakeem. The author of DETRANS: When Transition is Not the Solution tells Julie why he thinks so many clinicians have let down vulnerable children and young people.
