Open Letter to Detransitioners and Desisters

Dear Friends,

We are reaching out to you with a sincere request to share your experiences as part of a project designed to help others questioning their path. Many young people today are caught in a web of confusion, pressured by ideology and misinformation into making life-altering decisions. Your testimony could be the light that guides them back to reality.

At Our Duty, we have launched the 3D Project—a collection of real-life testimonies from those who have desisted or detransitioned. We know that doubts about transgender identity can take years to fully resolve, and those currently struggling need to hear from people who have walked this path before them. By sharing your insights, you will provide a critical resource for parents, doubters, and those seeking clarity.

Why Your Story Matters
Society is saturated with narratives that insist transition is the only path forward. Young people are told that they must affirm their feelings or face devastating consequences. Many are left unaware of the alternatives, the regret, and the harm that can follow medical intervention. Your voice can break through this noise and offer an alternative perspective grounded in reality.

We have identified ten key ‘thoughts’ that often play a role in desistance and detransition, from rejecting the ‘born in the wrong body’ narrative to choosing to care for one’s mental health. If any of these resonate with you, we would be grateful if you could share how these realizations shaped your journey. If you had a unique insight that led to your desistance, we encourage you to share that as well.

How to Participate

  • Complete the Questionnaire: You can submit your responses with your name and email. We ask for this information to ensure the testimonies we collect are verifiable and credible. 3D Project Form
  • Speak with Us: If you prefer a conversation, we can arrange a one-on-one discussion. Book appointment.
  • Spread the Word: If you know others who might be willing to share their experiences, please encourage them to participate.

We understand that privacy is a concern, and we assure you that your information will be handled with the utmost care. Our Duty has been working in this space for over six years, advocating for parents and safeguarding children. We are committed to ensuring your testimony is used responsibly and effectively.

Your testimony could be the reason a young person reconsiders medical transition before it’s too late. It could help a parent find the courage to question harmful affirmations. It could save lives.

We recognize that sharing personal experiences can be difficult, and we are here to support you. If you have any concerns or need assurance regarding anonymity and privacy, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your time and for considering this opportunity to make a difference.

In solidarity,

Keith Jordan
