Reason-based Talking Points
- Children are not allowed to take out credit cards, get tattoos, smoke cigarettes, vote or consent to sex because as a society we do not consider them capable of making this judgement. Why should a toddler be expected to determine their own gender?
- What does affirmation mean anyway? Does the parent have to promise to remove a teens’ breasts or testicles to be affirming? Will subjecting the child to non-FDA-approved puberty blockers, the same drugs used to castrate sex-offenders be enough? AB957 is a race to the bottom, forcing parents to permanently harm their children sexually, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and physically.
- AB957 equates affirming biological gender with child abuse or neglect. Parents will have to choose between harming a child by affirming their gender identity or losing custody.
- AB957 will lead to countless unethical and unnecessary medical interventions on minors including including reproductive sterilization and removal of healthy body parts.
- Natural law dictates that parents are responsible for the moral, emotional, psychological and religious formation of children. AB957 is a gross violation of the sanctity of the family unit by the state government.
- There are insufficient longitudinal studies to prove the benefits and/or harm caused by minors transitioning gender.
- Most Californians are against Senator Scott Weiner’s radical agenda for gender-confused children.
