Eleven instances of substantial suicidal ideation was also noted. This suicide rate 2/315 is 40 times higher than the national average.

Denmark’s recent 42-year look-back study found that trans-identifying Danes had elevated
suicide attempts, suicide-related deaths, non-suicide-related deaths, and all-cause mortality as compared with non-transgender individuals. Compared to the general population, transgender-identified individuals were 7-8 times more likely to attempt suicide, 3.5 times more likely to die by suicide, and twice as likely to die from non-suicide related causes. Notably, Denmark is an extremely progressive country. The study did not distinguish between those who identify as transgender and those who have engaged in medicalization but the assumption based upon the fact that gender interventions are readily available, that the suicide rates were predominately of those individuals that transitioned in some form. The study tracked Danes age 15 and older.
